I know you are eager to read my reasons as to why you must NOT buy the Kindle PaperWhite Ebook Reader? That is because Amazon is coming up with a newer version mate!
If you are a Kindle enthusiast you will love the All-New Kindle Paperwhite, 6″ High-Resolution Display (300 ppi) with Built-in Light, Wi-Fi – Includes Special Offers launched recently.
And the main reason is that the new Kindle Paperwhite Ebook reader comes with enhanced ppi and RAM. Enhanced PPI would mean sharper images and fonts will be crispier to read. Amazon says that the PPI is double that of the previous Paperwhite but that difference will show up only on images and small fonts, to the human eye.
The display PPI enhancement will be good to warrant a second look at this new PW Kindle. Let’s see what this new Kindle PaperWhite has to offer:
- A 1GHz processor (same as before)
- 4GB of built-in memory (same as before).
- Revised 512MB RAM (previously it was 256MB).
- New Bookerly font – The all-new Kindle Paperwhite now offers Bookerly, an exclusive font that is hand-crafted for great readability (font size).
As usual there’s no expansion slot for additional memory (wonder when Kindle will implement that) but the 4GB is more than sufficient to store thousands of e-books. However that is still a limitation for someone who will be collecting more than thousands of books. Technical differences in the form of better RAM would mean faster and effortless operations. There will be no lag and that is what the end-user likes.
The fact that they are constantly upgrading their tablets through regular survey and feedback shows that they are keen to make a difference in their end-user comforts. The 1st Kindle Paperwhite debuted in 2012 while the 2nd Gen Kindle Paperwhite launched in late 2013. This one comes in mid 2015, so I definitely expect the product to be a cut above the previous ones.
Then there is the Kindle Voyage that is a little lighter and has a glass front with dedicated page-turning buttons. But in my personal opinion those advantages don’t seem worth shelling out an additional $80 extra rate for the Voyage from what this new PW is selling at. However I am expecting the Voyage to either come out with a newer higher spec model and reduce this Voyage to a smaller price difference. Only time will tell.
Bottom line – the new PaperWhite is almost similar but comes with a better display (PPI) and double the RAM, to make it a good buying proposition at that price.
This item will be released on June 30, 2015.
