I have ordered for a computer CPU and Monitor from Amazon, but now I have to settle on a video cable choice for connectivity.
The monitor has the option of using either DVI or HDMI, but I don’t know which I should choose. HDMI or DVI – which is better ?Do you have any suggestions?
GB’s answer: Gayathri, as far as the video aspect is concerned both DVI and HDMI are new digital standards so you should get great video quality regardless of which one you settle on. But HDMI will be a better choice IMHO.
Here’s why I say that:
HDMI supports audio as well as video. Which means almost all new LCD andLED TVs are connectable to your PC. Also, if your new monitor has built-in speakers you won’t have to connect an extra cable to use those speakers – the HDMI will carry audio signals too!
DVI on the other hand does not have that option of connecting to other screens apart from a DVI enabled monitor.
Bottomline: Go with an HDMI cable but make sure your PC has a graphic card that supports HDMI connectivity.
Tip: If you decide to go with an HDMI cable, you don’t really need to buy the costliest one out there.
Take your pick from these excellent cables listed on Amazon. If anyone told you that the cables that are costlier are better then remember that its not the case.
A 5$ cable will work just as fine as the 50$ one.
So choose wisely.
